Dosi Dosi imports authentic mastic tears directly from Chios, Greece, and distills them in the U.S. into its own proprietary Mastiha liqueur – the foundation of our signature cocktail.
What is Mastiha?
Mastiha, or Mastic Tears of Chios, is a rare resin from the mastic tree that has been harvested for over 2,500 years on the island of Chios, Greece. Valued since ancient times for its purity and healing properties, it carries a bright, pine-like aroma with subtle citrus and herbal notes. Once cherished by Greek sailors, healers, and royalty, Mastiha was used in early medicine, skincare, and even as the world’s first chewing gum.
Today, this timeless ingredient remains exclusive to Chios, protected by the EU’s PDO status and recognized by UNESCO for its centuries-old hand-harvesting techniques. Its distinct character, shaped by the island’s unique soil and sun, cannot be replicated anywhere else.
